2. Less Oxygen => More Life
Less oxygen, more life!
Recently, I came across something that really piqued my interest. It's called BoxAltitude. Founded by ex-pro cyclist Rico Rogers, it's a home-based, reduced oxygen sleeping or training system that essentially mimics the benefits of high-altitude living while you sleep. Yes, you sleep your way into better health.
At first, the idea of deliberately reducing oxygen levels during sleep sounded counterintuitive, but once I dug into the science, I was hooked.
The concept is built on intermittent hypoxia, a hormetic stressor (like fasting or cold exposure) that has been shown to trigger cellular resilience, mitochondrial biogenesis, and even enhance the body's natural repair mechanisms.
There's a growing body of research linking mild hypoxic exposure to improved cardiovascular health, better metabolic function, and potentially even extended lifespan.
What I love about BoxAltitude is that it brings this research into a practical, usable form right into your bedroom. You don't need to move to the Andes to get these benefits.
It's a beautiful example of how Australia is starting to punch above its weight in the biotech and health optimisation space. If you're exploring effective ways to support your healthspan, keep an eye on this one.
Box Altitude, is joining the Lumen Longevity panel in Melbourne as a sponsor, and leading the charge! We’re proud to have them on board as we explore the future of human potential.
